Questions About Becoming a
World Impact Missionary

back

What do you require of missionary applicants?

  1. You must be at least 21 years old.
  2. You must believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and be active in a local church.
  3. You must be committed to obeying the Bible as your standard for living.

Do I need a college degree or other specific skills?

Our desire is to enable our missionaries to use their skills and gifts to the fullest as they work to build the Kingdom of God. As such, we are more concerned with your character (the fruit of the Spirit) than with your degrees, skills or credentials. A college degree is not necessarily required.

However, it is essential that all missionaries have the biblical knowledge and the spiritual gifts required for their particular role. We welcome applicants who have specialized training in fields related to Bible, missions, and ministry. In some specialized ministry roles, such as teachers in our schools or physicians in our medical ministry, a particular educational background is required.

What training do you provide for your missionaries?

During their first year, missionaries complete a "Missionary Orientation and Training Course." This is followed by on-going training tailored to your role in ministry (using a module-based curriculum), held at your ministry location. This training is provided individually, in small groups and in large groups. Periodically, there are regional and national training events that are scheduled as needed.

How am I assigned to a World Impact ministry site?

We weigh various factors in determining placement including our strategic needs in various locations, your stated placement preference, current team dynamics and available housing.

What if I cannot raise enough financial support?

Our missionaries receive a income, health insurance and retirement benefits. Incoming missionaries often receive assistance or resources to help them raise the support they need before they come. If God calls you, He will provide the resources – maybe through people you do not know.
