Easter Sunday Reflection: The Empty Tomb

The stone is rolled away. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive!

Death could not hold Him. The grave could not contain Him. And because He lives, we live—not just someday, but now, in the full, free, unshakeable hope of His victory. This is not just history. It’s your story. Jesus, our King, has conquered death. And that means there is no darkness He cannot overcome, no sorrow He cannot redeem, no sin He cannot forgive.

So, wherever you are this Easter—whether you’re full of joy or barely holding on—this truth remains: Christ is risen. Hope is alive. And we are never the same.

Let’s be like those first women at the tomb. Let’s run to tell the good news: He is risen indeed.

Scripture

Matthew 28:1-7

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” (ESV)

Grieving women witness that the King has risen from the dead and is victorious over death.

Pray

Risen Savior, thank You for conquering the grave and offering us new life. Fill our hearts with resurrection joy today. Help us to walk in hope, to love boldly, and to share Your good news with the world. Amen.
