Training for church planters, leaders, and pastors often lack sufficient focus on issues facing city neighborhoods —
As a result, local church leaders feel frustrated, overwhelmed, and burned-out. We believe these dedicated women and men deserve training to lead healthy churches where the need is greatest. Will you help?
The Evangel School of Urban Church Planting trains Christian leaders to plant healthy churches in under-resourced communities.
The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) is a church-based seminary that provides affordable and accessible curriculum for men and women in communities of poverty.
Daren came to Christ at a young age and then dedicated his life to the calling of Christ on his life in junior high. He received his call to missions while in high school and became a missionary with World Impact after graduating from Moody Bible Institute in 1999. He joined the Wichita staff and became a church-plant team leader in April 2000. In 2005, Daren became the Wichita Church Plant Director, which included overseeing three church plants in transition.
In June 2008, Daren provided leadership in starting the newest church plant, Christ the Victor, with the vision to start a movement of multiplying churches among the urban poor. The church began in his basement and has since multiplied a Spanish-speaking church and several churches starting in other cities.
In February 2009, Daren took on the role of Wichita City Director and oversaw the Wichita ministry. In July 2013, Daren took over the role of Regional Director of Ministry of World Impact, Midwest. In 2016, Daren became the Midwest Regional Vice President and in 2019, he became the SVP of Ministry Mobilization and continues in this role presently as he oversees a team of ministry developers finding and resourcing church leaders in communities of poverty.
Daren and his wife, Tina, welcomed their first child, Jackson, on September 6, 2009; their second, Justus, on August 11, 2012; and their third, Caden, on July 6, 2018.
