Making a Difference in Urban Communities: 4 Program Highlights From World Impact
1. Making a Difference Through Trauma Healing Training
The impact of our Trauma Healing program is evident in the testimony of one church leader who stated that they had grown more in their understanding and relationship with Christ in just three days of training than in the past eight years. This is a powerful testimony to the effectiveness of our program and the positive change it is making in the lives of individuals and communities in need. We are proud to continue our partnership with the American Bible Society’s Trauma Healing Institute and bring hope and healing to those in need.
What is Trauma Healing?
World Impact’s Trauma Healing program equips urban ministry workers and leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to facilitate Bible-based healing groups, providing a safe and supportive space for individuals to heal from trauma.
Trauma can have a profound impact on individuals, creating barriers to engaging with Scripture, overwhelming human coping mechanisms, and destroying dignity and choice. Through our Trauma Healing program, we aim to equip urban church leaders with the tools they need to provide basic trauma care and remove these barriers, helping individuals to engage with God and begin the healing process.

2. Making a Difference in Urban Communities With Church-Based Seminaries
Recently, we were able to report significant progress in our Church-Based Seminary program. Three new partner sites were added, and two replacement site coordinators were approved, further expanding the reach of our program and ensuring its continued success.
Gustavo Delgado, along with Partner and TUMI Field Representative David Hernandez, provided valuable training in Mexico City for Evangel Deans. This training was an important step in preparation for an upcoming training event in Cuba, where Gustavo will be assisting and connecting with our church-based seminary partners.
In addition, we are proud to announce that fifteen students graduated from our Church-Based Seminary program during the third quarter, bringing our cumulative graduate count to 2,327. This is a testament to the effectiveness of our program and the impact it is having on the lives of individuals and communities in need.
What is a Church-Based Seminary?
World Impact’s Church-Based Seminaries equip urban church leaders with effective training through partnerships with local churches, organizations, and denominations. Graduates become champions of renewal and spiritual growth in their communities, helping to revitalize the urban church and bring hope to communities of poverty.
3. Making a Difference in International Church Planting
Recently, World Impact had the privilege of hosting its first International Evangel Dean Training, in partnership with Atascadero Bible Church. This event brought together 13 delegates from Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh, representing a diverse group of leaders from around the world.
During the training, we were honored to commission our 2nd Evangel Dean Catalyst, Prodip Das (Bengali), recognizing his leadership and commitment to serving his community. This milestone highlights the impact of our training programs and the positive change they are making in the lives of individuals and communities in need.
What is Church Planting through World Impact?
The Evangel School of Urban Church Planting trains Christian workers to plant healthy churches in under-resourced communities. Prospective church planters receive coaching and training to develop plans for all aspects of church life. Students emerge empowered and ready to plant churches and share the gospel.
4. Making a Difference in Prison Ministry
Recently, World Impact held two successful Onesimus Workshops, one at LifePoint Church in Dallas and another at Bibleway Church in Atlanta. The Onesimus Workshop is a training program designed to help start Church-Based Seminary programs in local prisons.
At LifePoint Church in Dallas, the workshop was instrumental in helping to launch a CBS program in a local prison. This program will provide much-needed training and support to individuals in the prison system, helping to empower them and give them a sense of purpose and direction as they develop a deeper faith in Christ.
At Bibleway Church in Atlanta, the pastor saw value in the Onesimus Workshop and wants to host additional workshops in the future. The pastor attended the entire day, showing their commitment to the mission and the positive impact it can have on their community.
Additionally, doors are opening for World Impact to plant a church in a prison in the Boston area. This is a significant opportunity to bring hope and transformation to individuals in the prison system and help them build a brighter future.
Overall, the Onesimus Workshops are a testament to the impact that World Impact is making in communities in need and the positive change that can be achieved through our programs.
