22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty
and brings down the stronghold in which they trust.
Reflection
Who do you think is stronger – one individual or an entire city?
While you might be tempted to think that the city is stronger, the truth is that one person with God on his or her side can be stronger than the multitude. One wise person, with the grace and blessing of God, can make a significant impact on an entire city. We see in this verse that the wise person can pull down the strongholds in which the
city trusts. This ought to encourage us as we work for the good of our city.
Empowered by God’s grace, one single person can have a significant impact on the city if they are wise by God’s standards. Are you living submitted to God and seeking to be wise? If so, recognize that God can work in and through you to make a Kingdom impact on your city. The wisdom given to you by God can topple the strongholds gripping your city. God’s grace empowers you to make a difference right where you are for the good of the city and the glory of the Lord’s name.
Prayer
Lord, help me to be wise by your standards and to live a life that makes a Kingdom impact in this city. Thank you for being all powerful and for using one committed follower to impact a multitude. Please draw people unto yourself and use my words and actions to make a difference here in this city. May you receive all the honor and glory due to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
