Another school year at Los Angeles Christian School (LACS) has begun. Our first day of school was August 29, and I am back in the fifth grade classroom with a new group of students. The beginning of the school year is always fun and exciting. I love the first few days when the kids are quiet and nervous and on their best behavior, trying to impress their new teacher.
It is always a funny transition, welcoming in a new class. I miss the last class a lot, and it takes time to develop a similar rapport with the new class. Each class has a personality of its own, and it takes some time to get to know that personality and to mesh with it. I am praying that this new class will be able to adjust well to fifth grade and to my teaching style, and that I will be able to adjust to them and their new and unique personality.
Will you please pray with me for this new class of fifth graders? There are a total of thirteen students. They are known as a fun class with lots of strong personalities and characters mixed in. Please pray with me that they will feel safe and comfortable with me quickly, yet also know the respect and discipline that comes along with being in a classroom. Please pray that I will be strong and firm, and loving and gracious with them and learn quickly about each of their learning styles and personal character strengths and weaknesses. I want to be an effective teacher to each individual in my classroom, and I will need lots of prayers to be successful!
I am excited to see what God has in store for each student at LACS this year. They are the future leaders in their cities and churches, and it is a privilege to help shape who they are becoming.
