A Week at The Oaks
It is that time again! The busiest season we have here at The Oaks, and also the time we all look forward to each year. Summer camp has begun and we are so excited!
A Taste of Heaven
One of the greatest benefits of World Impact’s camps is the opportunity to take kids and families from the city and give them a retreat into nature. However, my favorite part of summer camps was always taking teens and young adults from suburban or small town areas and giving them a taste of urban culture.
The Seed is Growing
I finally got a Facebook account, and it has been great fun to reconnect with students I have not seen for over 20 years.
Not a Good Surprise
World Impact missionary Ryan Carter is often asked to fill the pulpit for pastors who are away, but one particular Sunday he was asked to preach just to give the pastor a week to sit and listen rather than deliver the sermon.
Authentic Life
Every Tuesday night, a diverse group of men meet at a local Wichita coffee shop. This group started last September with just a handful of men and women wanting a place to seek the Lord and find true fellowship.
Faith Climb
Put yourself in a camper’s shoes for a moment and imagine you are halfway up a 60-foot cliff. You try not to look down, but of course you cannot help yourself every once in a while.
Restoring and Equipping Disciples
Before descending into heaven Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples. One of the many ways the Teen Center seeks to build the kingdom of heaven is by empowering the youth in our community.
World Impact Summer Camps
Our summer camps give urban children and families the chance to escape the busyness of city life. They can experience a variety of activities like archery, swimming, canoeing, and crafts, and they are presented with the Gospel message.
TUMI Student Phillip
Recently, Don and Cathy Allsman, missionaries with The Urban Ministry Institute visited a Muskegon prison. Their visit had a profound impact on one prisoner, Philip, who wrote to Cathy to tell her about it.
Spotlight on Shaun Estrada
“This retreat was a life changer for me. Chains were broken and my burdens released to the Lord.”
Football and TUMI
Football and TUMI’s Capstone Curriculum – what could they possibly have in common? Let me share a story with you.
Images of Transformation
Recently I had the privilege of attending a TUMI graduation in prison, and it was full of images of complete transformation and redemption – images that made me blink twice and say to myself, “Am I really seeing this?”
Topeka Evangel
“Animals in China and Idaho Only Eat Purple Ice Cream Every Autumn.” That was the best I could do for an example of an acrostic to help our Topeka Evangel Church Plant teams remember key principles of Team Building.
TUMI Student Steve
From a very young age I was in trouble. I was arrested for the first time when I was in the 7th grade. I began to look up to the gang members in my area and wanted to be just like them.
Bay Area Siafu Leadership Home
When West Coast Regional Vice President Paul Chan first began developing the Siafu Leadership training home, he had a vision of formerly incarcerated men becoming pastors.
