Snowflakes and Tapdance
As I reflect back on all the experiences and opportunities that God has given me throughout 2015, it amazes me how much I have learned and grown over this past year.
Resourcing Urban Church Planters
Planting churches in communities like Wilmington, Delaware, is full of challenges. That’s why we’re so grateful for your gift below to help provide more urban church planters like him with the critical training and resources they need to build healthy, Gospel-centered churches in some of the roughest communities across our nation.
Freedom in Christ
During the past two years, World Impact has been engaged in a new effort to offer inmates with potential a path toward ministry upon their release. Candidates for this new program must show a high level of promise in their Christ transformation as well as Godly training while behind prison walls.
TUMI in Ukraine
Several months ago my daughter Leane and I participated in a Sunday evening service with a group of refugees in the Ukraine – people who have left the war-torn area of Crimea. The purpose of our trip was to visit current TUMI sites in Romania and help to establish other sites in the countries of Moldova and Ukraine.
A Lasting Impact
Adriana was a new student in my TUMI class. As I do with most new students, I asked her to share her testimony. When she started, her story seemed very familiar to me, and before long, I knew World Impact was part of it.
Welcome Home to Urban Church Planting
God’s mission and heart for the city includes the transformation of the least of these. This transformation will happen in a way that the last become first.
Your Prayers Impact the City
We fight a strong enemy. Violence continues to plague our cities. No amount of support, staff, or creative ideas will change the hearts of people in the city. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ will change the city.
Serving the Prince of Peace
There has been so much to be grateful for this year at Newark Christian School. For one thing, we are grateful for God’s continued protection as we live and serve in a dangerous neighborhood.
Winter Camp Testimony
The Oaks Camp has had a huge role in my life. A couple summers ago, I went to camp for the first time and did not know Jesus. I was going through a hard situation with my family and the leaders at Kaleo were there for me.
LACS Students Q&A
A few teachers at Los Angeles Christian School gathered their classes and asked their students some questions. Check out their answers!
Church Planting in Under-Resourced and Under-Served Communities
World Impact’s mission is to facilitate church planting movements among America’s unchurched urban poor. In my 14 years in ministry as a preacher, planter, and pastor I can testify that church planting in impoverished neighborhoods is one of the most challenging yet rewarding calls in my life.
TUMI Expansion in India
We recently took a trip to India; it was a good one with many blessings and challenges as always. Each trip seems to be more difficult than the last one. Either that is true or we just don’t remember very well.
Embracing the Sisterhood
Sisterhood. There is something powerful that happens when women of God join together to support and encourage each other – especially women leaders. Leadership can often be a lonely and difficult road to travel.
A Life Transformed
Christ transformed Beau’s life after 10 years of incarceration. And through interactions with World Impact, he was hired at our thrift store in Wichita, KS.
Heritage Night
Each fall, Los Angeles Christian School holds some kind of event as a fundraiser. Past events include pancake breakfasts and a Fun Fitness Day – they have been fun and raised money for the school, but this year our planning team wanted to try something different.
Ministry Job Training for Ex-Offenders
Who will hire ex-offenders? How can formally incarcerated men and women with a gifting in ministry successfully transition back into society? Leadership homes exist to bridge the gap between suburban churches, urban churches and ex-offenders looking to serve the Lord through ministry.
Partnerships to Turn Around Cities
The Lord is moving mightily throughout the World Impact East Coast region and by his grace, we look forward to seeing more “good fruit” from our various missional partnerships.
