A Week at The Oaks

It is that time again! The busiest season we have here at The Oaks, and also the time we all look forward to each year. Summer camp has begun and we are so excited!

We will have six weeks of camp this summer, which is one more than our usual. For most of the camps (first to third grade is a shorter week than the rest), the kids arrive on Sunday afternoon and they are feeling a mix of emotions. For kids who have been to camp before, they are excited and have been waiting for this week ALL YEAR! For some first-timers, they are excited, but also nervous about being away from home, from the city and in the mountains at a place they know nothing about.

Right away they will meet their camp counselor (one of our summer staff team) who has been waiting and praying for them for many weeks. During the week, they will enjoy three meals a day around a table with the rest of their cabin and counselors. While they eat lunch, they get to watch and play really fun and messy camp games! They will go on hikes, go swimming in the pool (a favorite, for sure!), make crafts and play lots of games.

Students will also have a class each morning where a Bible story will be shared with them and processed in a way they can apply to their lives in the city. Each night they have fire circle time where the story they learned in Bible class is reviewed through things like skits and a speaker. They get to worship the Lord through song and are surrounded by the mountains and other campers and leaders who are worshipping with them. What a beautiful time! No wonder kids look forward to it all year round!

Please pray for these kids ranging from first grade to high school. Pray that God would prepare their hearts to come and receive Him as their Savior, hear from Him and be loved by Him. Please pray that God would prepare and equip each leader for their role in summer camp. We are so excited and happy for the opportunity to love on each kid this summer!
