During the month of January, The Oaks hosted a winter teen retreat of over 350 junior and senior high students. They came from diverse ethnic backgrounds, skin colors, and languages.
Back in February I was greatly encouraged by a quick notice given by the city of Newark. Usually when I am dealing with the city of Newark it is not a good thing.

It was a normal day. I was picking up one of my teens early from school. I signed him out, we got in the car, put our seat belts on and I took a deep breath.
We are unfortunately shaped by the larger society to believe or assign certain attributes to people who are inside the walls.
We believe the local church is the hope for the city. I meet with pastors and leaders of neighborhood churches who are changing the world everyday.
As the year winds to a close, we wanted to take a look back on the many ways in which God has been at work here and around the world.
During this time of year, I am always swept up in the harried pace and mountain of responsibilities, but, as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of our Saviorโs birth, I want to allow for more moments to be still.
As I sit and reflect on these past summer months, I am reminded of the importance of the universal Church body that have faithful and committed leaders.
We had a few things that we were praying for us we transitioned to Indianapolis, new friends, and church to call home! We found a great church just a few miles from our house that we all enjoy and we are finding ways to connect and serve there.
