We just hosted our first Alumni and Student Conference, the first of its kind in TUMI’s history! We brought together students from the past and present to be inspired for the sake of fulfilling the Great Commission.
I got connected with The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) through the Satellite at my church in Burbank, CA. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I started.
Recently someone asked, “What do you do when the graduating class is only one student at The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) of Dallas?” I replied, “The same thing we do when we have many.”
I first met Carlos only a few days after he was paroled from a California State Prison. The first thing I noticed was his infectious smile and bright demeanor.
I’ve always wondered why people who helped me with DIY home products needed a trip to the hardware store in order to get started.
Recently, I had the pleasure of participating in the ordination service of Reverend J. Refugio Moya Garcia, who we simply call Cuco. I am so honored to be able to call him Reverend.

One day I stepped into our TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) classroom to check on a student who was studying and heard her on the phone.
I met Ray Jenkins nearly six years ago. He visited a Tuesday evening TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) class with his pastor.
We all know that prison is not a great place. Yet God can redeem the lives of people sent there, as many have found his or her salvation while serving time.
