Healthy churches need healthy pastors. By providing a place where a busy urban pastor can step away, the opportunity for restoration and refreshment becomes a reality.
Recently, World Impact Dallas missionary, Sol Herrera coordinated the first Dallas Iglesia del Maestro Womenโs Retreat. The theme of the retreat was LIBERADAS: Llenas de Poder para Vivir en Libertad (RELEASED: Empowered to Live Free).
I grew up in the inner city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. I have been an urban dweller, urban youth pastor, urban high school basketball coach, urban church planter, and urban community foundation executive.
At The Oaks, we hire young adults to come work with us in the summer with hope that they will re-enter their communities with new skills and a passion to see the Kingdom of God expanded.
This summer at The Oaks, we have a new counselor who is very familiar with our summer program. Byronโs story with World Impact began almost five years ago when he was invited to attend a Kaleo meeting at the World Impact Teen Center.
It is that time again! The busiest season we have here at The Oaks, and also the time we all look forward to each year. Summer camp has begun and we are so excited!

The theme for the Oaks Winter Camp 2016 was Pivot: Change the Game. It comes from the idea that in living the Christian life there are many times when we have to stop, pivot and change direction toward following God.
