The Spirit is on the move in our vision of planting 100 churches in the poorest cities in the East Region of the United States. From Miami, FL, in the South to Newburgh, NY, up North – the urban poor are advancing the Kingdom of God through the planting of local churches. The East Region of World Impact recently hosted our first Evangel School of Urban Church Planting, and it was a great success. We were able to charter three new church plant endeavors.
Our Evangel School of Urban Church Planting trains and equips coaches, church planters, and church plant teams to plant healthy churches among the city’s poor. To thrive in their efforts, urban church planters must adopt a clear theological vision and choose a sound, culturally sensitive model and expression of the church. They must apply biblical wisdom to evangelize effectively, equip, and empower unreached city folk to respond to the love of Christ, and take their place in representing Christ’s Kingdom where they live and work.
Let me share with you one of our Charters from our most recent Evangel School – Community Transformation Church. This church is full of believers who fellowship in prayer and worship, listen to and practice the Word, and witness to advance God's Kingdom. The senior pastor, Ed Camacho is very excited about what God is doing. They will have their inauguration service on June 5, 2016.
In preparation for this day, the church has turned their primary focus to one thing: prayer. The members have been praying for the city, praying for the church, praying for the leaders, praying for God’s hand to be seen and His Spirit to be felt. The enemy will look for a way to stir up disunity from the very beginning, so by praying faithfully the members of Community Transformation Church are deterring the devil and his evil works. They have been praying for the hearts, minds, and souls of the people in their launch team. Prayer has always proven to be a very powerful tool against the enemy, and we are excited to see how God blesses this new church plant.
