Fire Seeds of Revival in Africa

prayer warriors in Africa

Prayer warriors are World Impactโ€™s unsung heroes

Last December, four World Impact teams returned from Africa. More than 1,000 local pastors and ministry leaders received training during their three-week stay. Team members eagerly shared eyewitness accounts of answered prayers. The Spirit is moving in Africa!

We are profoundly grateful for our partners whose full-of-faith prayers propel the advancement of Godโ€™s kingdom worldwide. They are the soldiers in the foxhole, fighting on the front lines of spiritual battle to establish a healthy church in every community experiencing poverty. They trust God for results they may not get to see firsthand.

Christianity is growing in unprecedented measures

According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminaryโ€™s 2024 report, Christianity is growing worldwide at a faster rate than the population. The church is expanding more rapidly in Africa than in any other global region. World Impact ministries are in the thick of this outpouring.

Those of us living in the States genuinely rejoice to hear how Godโ€™s mighty hand is at work across Africa. Our prayers are being answered! Many partners have asked, “Why do you think so much is happening in Africa?โ€ Here, we donโ€™t often see the same scale of growth our teams describe in the countries they visited.

The African leaders share their observations about what it looks like when Spiritual Awakening shakes up a community.

There is unity among the churches

In Tanzania, a World Impact team hosted a summit gathering where 50 regional leaders gathered to seek the Lord, develop strategies, and encourage one another. These leaders represented many denominations united in their vision to advance the Gospel.

There is fervor for the Gospel. Whenever Godโ€™s Word goes forth, it accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. World Impact is experiencing exponential growth in its TUMI (The Urban Ministry Institute) centers. Hundreds of students have graduated from these Church-Based Seminaries. Church planting networks are expanding, and pastors are being equipped to invest in emerging leaders.

Most impactfully, the African Church is committed to Prayer! Prayer infused in the church planting networks maintains unity, and prayer powers the fervor of the gospel.

God is moving powerfully across the African continent

Rev. Dr. Don Davis, founder and director of World Impactโ€™s Urban Ministry Institute, once shared an analogy with a TUMI graduate: When you see a fire, bring dry wood.  Africa is on fire for Christ. We can bring them fuel so they can continue to burn and accomplish what only God can do. Opportunities continue to emerge, and we feel compelled to respond. To do this, we need more people to join us in praying and giving financially to support our vision of establishing a healthy church in every community experiencing poverty.

Churches are the heartbeat of Godโ€™s purpose for His people. The growth of African church plants is outpacing the resources available at the current TUMI facilities. Without trained pastors, ย misleading, harmful, and false doctrines are sneaking in and gaining a foothold. World Impact exists to train healthy leaders to build healthy churches that will transform communities and the world. We need more churches to join us in partnering to help.

His presence is all over the world

In the same way we see God working through the faithfulness of our friends in Africa, we recognize His presence all over the world. God shows up when His people are eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. His power is evident where we boldly proclaim the Gospel in our communities. This motivates us to join together in prayer! If you would like to connect with our international activities, reach out to us at World Impact! Weโ€™re eager to collaborate with our brothers and sisters in Christ to advance His Kingdom.

Itโ€™s time for us to act and pray with urgency. Whether the Lord returns today or in a millennium, people in Africa need the gospel right now. We cannot wait. Weโ€™ve got to push forward. God is changing lives, and He loves to include us in what He is doing when we pray. Even so, Lord Jesus, come quickly!
