December 1, 2016
Dear Friends,
Greetings from the Hoernig family. Ruth and I have been blessed with a wonderful family, including our daughter-in-law Kim and two grandkids, Isaac and Caleb. All is well and we pray blessings on you and your families also.
The Christmas season is upon us and this is a great time to reflect on the gift of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, given to us to save us from our sins. He came and lived among us to demonstrate God’s love for us and provide the way of salvation. This is the good news that we share with all those to whom we minister to here in Newark, New Jersey.
There are many things happening that we would like to share with you. Two brothers from our King’s Kids Club started attending Newark Christian School (NCS) this year in the fourth and fifth grades. In October, I received a thank-you note from the younger brother (part of a class assignment) and I’d like to share a little bit with you.
“Dear Mrs. Ruth, Thank you for letting me in your program. Now I worship God and also I put my full trust in Him. Also I know that He died for our sins.”
Wow! We were so blessed and overjoyed to read these words. He has been in our King’s Kids Bible Club for two years and now is in our Evangelism Explosion class with the fourth grade. As an extra bonus, the boys’ cousin attends King’s Kids with them every week and learns every verse with them as well. And you all have a part in this due to your prayers and support of our ministry here.
On December 16, Ruth will be part of the annual NCS Christmas Program. This is a time when each classroom prepares a presentation for their family and friends. Ruth’s part is to teach the students songs to sing. This year will include Away in a Manger, Red and Green, Wonderful Counselor, First Flakes, and will close with Aaron’s Blessing. If you are free at 7:00 PM on December 16, please join us. Wear a good jacket as our auditorium has no heat. That is also a prayer request: A new heating system is needed and that is something that cannot be addressed at this time.
Good news, in our last letter we told you about Miguel. He is out of the hospital and rehab and his mind is back. He still remembers nothing about the accident or most of the time in the hospital. What a joy it is to have him back in church with us! Please keep praying for complete restoration as he has trouble walking at times.
