Topeka Evangel

“Animals in China and Idaho Only Eat Purple Ice Cream Every Autumn.”

That was the best I could do for an example of an acrostic to help our Topeka Evangel Church Plant teams remember key principles of Team Building. This was during my session on that subject at our first Topeka Evangel School of Urban Church Planting. (The key principles are: Articulation, Incorporation, Cooperation, Identification, Organization, Preparation, Implementation, Coordination, Evaluation and Adaptation!)

Our first Evangel School was an exciting opportunity to encourage those who are courageously taking new ground in the hearts of our cities. Six teams attended, some gathering information to help them discern their place in the vision, others confirming a call to plant new churches. The training took place over six weeks and during that time, new relationships and networks formed. We are expecting much fruit from the hard work each team put into those six weeks!

Along with the Evangel School, many other exciting things are happening in Topeka! TUMI Topeka rolled through the first quarter with 12 students in our advancing community class, eight students in two Capstone courses in our county jail, and 35 students in Fight the Good Fight of Faith discipleship/pre-Capstone classes in the jail. In addition, our partner satellite and churches hosted 13 TUMI students and certified several new Fighters of the Good Fight of Faith! We are grateful and encouraged by a growing network of partnerships with others who are excited about training new leaders and empowering the Urban Church for the advancement of the Kingdom.
