Watching the Lord change hearts for eternity at The Oaks is a great privilege. Many in our culture don’t know what to do with the inner cities of America; but we know that Jesus is the answer, one heart at a time. Thank you for coming to camp with us through the sacrifice of your prayers, time and finances. Thank you for helping us bring the saving knowledge of Jesus to those who have never heard His story of hope.
This past summer season at the Oaks began with a progressive dinner to get to know the staff. A returning summer staffer, Leann, shared her story. She had come as a child sponsored by World Impact to The Oaks for many years. She grew up in South Central LA and accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord while at camp. She wanted to give back to The Oaks as a camp counselor sharing the hope of Jesus with others who were just like her. After serving this summer at The Oaks, Leann will return to her college in Boston to continue her studies as a Research Pharmacologist.
While Leann’s major in college may be uncommon, her experience with World Impact is not. Many un-churched urban families and children find Christ, find stability and find hope in Jesus at the Oaks. Below are a few summer camper comments we wanted to share with you.
-
“I learned that Jesus is always there for me and that I don’t have to be scared because He loves me.”
-
“I learned that He fights for us 24/7.”
-
“That he stays with us everywhere we go and he loves us no matter what.”
-
“That God wants to break down barriers between us and that He wants us to be in his life and he’s fighting for us.”
-
“I want to say thank you so much because without Oaks camp I would be very sad and I wouldn’t be what I am now because the Oaks has changed my life forever. I’ve learned a ton. And I really want to say thank you.”
-
“I want to say that I’m really blessed because not a lot of people get to have donors like we do. I love camp here and I just want to thank them a lot, and if they were here I would probably want to hug them hard.”
