After more than five decades of faithful service, Dr. Don Davis and Rev. Al Ewert will retire from World Impact this year. Please join us in celebrating their remarkable years of service as we give thanks to God for their kingdom-building influence on countless leaders, churches, and communities around the world.
Their influence can be seen throughout the ministry they helped build: from the leaders they mentored, the training and curriculum they developed, churches they strengthened, and a new generation carrying the work forward.
Al joined World Impact in 1972, and Don began serving with the ministry in 1975. Over the decades that followed, both wholeheartedly devoted themselves to equipping urban ministry leaders and strengthening churches in communities experiencing poverty.

Don, a senior executive advisor to World Impact, left World Impact briefly in the 1980s to attend both Wheaton College and the University of Iowa to obtain doctorate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. He returned in 1995 to launch TUMI, The Urban Ministry Institute, World Impact’s theological training arm, where he helped develop accessible, seminary-level curricula such as Capstone, Cornerstone, and Fight the Good Fight of Faith to equip pastors and church leaders for ministry.
Al, who’s known for his genuine love of people, his commitment to building God’s kingdom, and for the way he embodies Christlike service, first learned about World Impact as a Tabor College student. In 1970, Al joined a volunteer outreach that brought Bible clubs to five Wichita neighborhoods. In 1972 he became director of World Impact Wichita, beginning more than five decades of service as an inner-city missionary. Over the years, his ministry has taken him around the world, equipping the next generation of pastors and expanding the reach of TUMI.
Both Al and Don plan to remain active in ministry after retirement, continuing to serve the Lord and encourage others wherever they can. Their jobs at World Impact may be coming to an end, but their commitment to Christ and His Church remains as strong as ever.
All of us at World Impact are deeply grateful for their leadership, friendship, and devotion to the gospel. It’s especially meaningful to see that the leaders Al and Don have taught and mentored are carrying their work into churches and communities around the world. We pray that God will bless Al and Don in the years ahead and continue to use them in His service.
