Through World Impact’s partnership with local leaders, pastors are being equipped to strengthen churches, train others, and multiply gospel ministry in communities experiencing poverty.
In Honduras, local churches are multiplying as ministry leaders equip others to plant churches, strengthen congregations, and train new leaders. During a recent visit to a church planting school in Tegucigalpa, and a Cornerstone graduation in San Pedro Sula, World Impact Ministry Mobilizer Alejandro Alvarado witnessed that multiplication firsthand.
Participants didn’t have to imagine what the training could accomplish. The church hosting the school had itself been planted by leaders who completed the same World Impact church planting training years earlier. Today, that congregation is thriving and has already planted two daughter churches. During the gathering, members shared how they faithfully put their church planting strategy into practice.
Their message to the 61 pastors and ministry leaders attending the school was simple: The plan works.

A Glimpse of What God is Doing
For World Impact partners, this is a glimpse of what God is doing through local leaders who have been equipped to strengthen churches and make disciples in their own communities.
Alejandro saw that same pattern of multiplication throughout the trip.
Pastor Edwin Andrade attended a World Impact church planting school four years ago. Today, he serves as an Evangel Dean and is multiplying what he received. After facilitating Fight the Good Fight of Faith, he recently celebrated the graduation of 128 ministry leaders. “When I heard 128 leaders were being trained at one time, I thought, something is happening here,” Alejandro said.
Pastor Edwin is now preparing to launch additional church planting and Cornerstone training and hopes to establish a Church-Based Seminary site in the community where he serves, bringing biblical training closer to pastors and ministry leaders in an area experiencing poverty about two hours outside Tegucigalpa.
“When one leader is trained, they return to their churches and communities to train others,” Alejandro said. “That’s how the Church grows.”

San Pedro Sula
The momentum continued in San Pedro Sula, where 17 students graduated from Cornerstone. Within minutes of the ceremony ending, leaders had already begun organizing the next cohort and discussing plans to offer Capstone as well.
For Alejandro, the greatest encouragement wasn’t simply the number of people participating. It was seeing pastors and ministry leaders, many serving communities with precious little money and time, hungry to devote their time to studying God’s Word so they could return home better equipped to strengthen their churches and serve their neighbors.
“It’s working,” he said. “This is what it’s all about.”
